When you purchase a one-trip shipping container, you’re getting a unit that’s practically brand new, used only once for a single shipment. These containers are manufactured overseas (typically in China), loaded with cargo to cover transport costs, and shipped to their destination port. Once unloaded, they become available for sale as like-new storage containers ready for long-term use.
One-trip containers from America Conex are carefully inspected before being listed for sale. Each unit undergoes a detailed multi-point inspection to ensure it’s structurally sound, free from holes, rust, or contamination, and meets our strict quality standards for like-new condition.
A one-trip shipping container can last 20 years or more. If presentation matters for your business, a one-trip unit offers a clean exterior, minimal rust or wear, and a professional look that fits well in any organized space.
In contrast, used shipping containers may show signs of age and wear, both visually and structurally. While they’re still functional, their lifespan and resale value are typically lower than those of one-trip containers.
When comparing one-trip and used containers, it’s important to balance appearance, longevity, and cost.
At America Conex, we guarantee top-quality one-trip containers with minimal wear. But if small dings or cosmetic imperfections don’t bother you, a used container can be a more budget-friendly alternative.
Cargo Worthy (CW) shipping containers are in better condition than standard Wind and Watertight (WWT) units and are therefore slightly more expensive.
At America Conex, we can provide a sea-worthy certificate for any Cargo Worthy container purchased through us. These containers meet all requirements for international shipping, making them suitable for transporting goods overseas safely and reliably.
Cargo Worthy containers may show signs of previous use, such as interior floor and wall scratches, scuffs, patches, surface rust, dents, or dings.
While they aren’t in pristine condition, they fully comply with international standards for shipping and are certified for overseas transport.
In addition to shipping, Cargo Worthy containers are also a cost-effective option for on-site storage, modification projects, and various professional applications.
Cargo Worthy (CW) and Wind and Watertight (WWT) containers share many similarities, as both have been used for years in maritime shipping.
The key difference lies in their condition and certification standards:
- CW containers (Grade B) are in better overall shape and meet all requirements to pass CSC inspections without repairs.
- WWT containers (Grade C) remain structurally sound and secure but often require maintenance or repairs to meet CSC certification standards.
In short, CW containers are a step above WWT in quality and readiness for international transport.
Wind & Watertight (WWT) shipping containers are a more affordable option, making them ideal for storage and on-site use. At Used Conex, we provide high-quality WWT containers backed by a 25-year leak warranty. We do not offer As-Is containers, which often come with holes, rust, or significant damage.

A WWT container is a Grade-C used Conex box that no longer meets CSC (International Convention for Safe Containers) standards. Shipping companies sell them after their maritime lifespan ends. They are commonly repurposed for storage or modification.
WWT containers show significant wear and tear and are retired from shipping when their structure may no longer be fully reliable.
WWT containers from America Conex undergo a multi-point inspection to meet strict wind and watertight standards. They are guaranteed to have no holes or leaks.
